Two XMUM Faculty Members Receive Private Education Excellence Awards 2019

Research Management Center congratulates Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering on receiving Private Education Excellence Awards from Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia (Educoop). Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun were awarded the National Outstanding Researcher Award (Material Science) and National Outstanding Reviewer Award (Nanotechnology), respectively.  

The awards were presented at the Award Ceremony of Private Education Excellence Awards 2019, which was held at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Kuala Lumpur on 25 May 2019, in conjunction with the National Teachers Day celebration. The objective of the awards ceremony is to recognize outstanding private educators from all private institutions in Malaysia. Present at the awards ceremony were Datin Sri Hajah Nor Zamani, Director for Private Education Department, Ministry of Education (who represented the Education Minister and the Director General of Ministry of Education), Dato’ R Rajendran, Chairman of Educoop, Lee Seng Chee, Chief Operating Officer of Krista Group of Companies (event sponsor), and around 350 educationists from 70 private institutions.

Out of the 150 nominations from 50 private educational institutions - ranging from preschool to university levels - the judging committee recognized 19 of them representing diverse education fields across the nation. The winners were selected under the categories of Teaching, Science, Arts and Design, Engineering, Research and Innovation, and Humanities.

About Prof. Huang Nay Ming

Prof. Huang Nay Ming is a Professor at the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, XMUM. Prof. Huang obtained his PhD degree in 2009 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Physics, 533333奥门巴黎人 of Malaya before joining XMUM in 2017. With an H-index of 29, Prof. Huang has published more than 110 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 2,500.

About Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun

Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun is an Associate Professor at School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, XMUM. With an H-index of 30, Assoc. Prof. Ong has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 4,800. He is now at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the 533333奥门巴黎人 of California Berkeley in the US for a short-term visit as a Visiting Professor under the support of the 2018 Merdeka Award Grant.
